Che Go Korean BBQ @ AEON Seberang Prai

This was my second time dining in a Korean BBQ restaurant. The only other so called Korean food that I tried was Seoul Garden, a typical buffet styled restaurant. Che Go Korean BBQ opened its first outlet in Penang at AEON Seberang Prai City, the largest mall in mainland Penang. Being relatively new, we decided to step in and give it a try.

Apart from the ala-carte dish in the menu, they also served set lunches and other BBQ set. Each set came with a few refillable side dish such as long beans, cucumber and kimchi.

CAUTION!! An electrical ceramic plate placed on top of the table to cook or BBQ your food.

Fried Chicken Karaage (RM11.00)
Instead of opting for the set, we decided to order from the menu. Thinking we could taste a variety of authentic Korean meal. For appetizers, this Fried Chicken Karaage came in six small pieces. It was fried without any bones. The meat was quite tasty and crunchy on the skin. An excellent choice!

Hot Pot Seafood Fried Rice (RM18.00)
This pot of Seafood Fried Rice was a chef's recommended dish. Frankly, I was rather disappointed. It was fried with prawns, cuttlefish, fish meat, scallop and sprinkled with lots of fried garlic and sesame seeds. The prawns were somehow over-cooked. Although the portion was generous, overall it was a tad too oily and salty.

Unagi Kabayoki (RM19.00)
The Unagi Kabayoki (grilled eel) came in two pieces with sweet basting sauce, which tasted quite similar to teriyaki sauce. The texture of the unagi was soft but tasted a little salty. Not a recommended dish as you can have better unagi in other Japanese restaurant.

Kimchi Seafood Soup (RM16.00)
The Kimchi Seafood Soup came with a concoction of prawns, crab meat, squid, tofu, chili pepper and of course 'kimchi' (cabbage pickle). It tasted quite good but somewhat lacked the ingredients. Overall, it was an average meal and a little pricey for the normal servings.

Boston a.k.a. Hongkie Kopitiam @ Auto City

Boston? No, not the city in America. This is another outlet located at Auto City which serves Hong Kong styled cuisines. Formerly, Hongkie Kopitiam.

The huge and brightly lit signboard does make the place stands out at night.

Iced Milk Tea & Iced Coffee

Fried Seafood in Udon
The portion for this fried udon was rather quite big for a person. It was fried with squids, prawns and fish meat. Somehow, the prawns were over-cooked. Overall, the taste was quite good despite a bit on the salty side.

Nasi Lemak
The nasi lemak came with a piece of chicken thigh and drumstick. Besides that, there was sambal ikan bilis with nuts. The gravy was quite spicy though and the rice lacked the distinctive fragrant found in nasi lemak.

Fried Hor Fun

This plate of fried hor fun tasted exactly like any other char koay teow found at the usual kopitiam. Nothing special and apparently the cook was very stingy with the ingredients.
